| It was a glorious September day and the going was exceptionally good underfoot despite some overnight rain | |||||||||
| While the runners were on the first lap a decision was taken the shorten the course to three laps as runners | |||||||||
| had expressed the opinion in previous years that four laps was too onerous. | |||||||||
| The conditions were thought to be the best ever and certainly not the usual mud bath down by the river. | |||||||||
| The big gate halfway down the hill was opened as the stile was ruinous, and the farmer tied up his loose dogs | |||||||||
| in the farmyard. All was very amicable and passed off very smoothly, and there were plenty of hands to set up | |||||||||
| and take down the course. The presentation took place in the café in the Leisure Centre, which was opened | |||||||||
| especially for the occasion. The facilities in the Baths were as exceptional as usual. | |||||||||
